Description
Radon-222 is a major background in low-background experiments such as SNO+. Radon mitigation requires quantitative strategies supported by a traceable measurement chain. This poster presents a calibration, assay, and analysis program that connects NIST-traceable HPGe gamma counting, Lucas-cell/PMT calibration, radon extraction using a physisorption and cold-trap assay system, Radon Monitor PIN photodiode response, source spike tests, and maximum-likelihood alpha-spectral fits to radon-monitor data. These measurements are used to validate the assay chain, characterize detector response and systematic effects, and estimate a radon leak rate for the SNO+ cover-gas system.
