Description

As dark matter detection efforts expand into lower energies, events exceeding the frequency and characteristics of predicted background noise have been detected. So named Low Energy Excess, understanding the source and features of these events is important to improve data analysis and design in low-threshold cryogenic experiments, and is a key objective of the current HVeV detector run at CUTE. A study of these events focusing on their detection and duration was undertaken to attempt to improve quality cuts and estimate data loss due to event frequency.
