General Overview of Tours
Science North Tour
Sunday, September 28th, 10am to 1pm
Science North is the largest science centre in Canada and Northern Ontario's most popular tourist destination. This centre consists of two snowflake shaped buildings that house an IMAX theatre, digital Planetarium, butterfly gallery, and special exhibits hall. The centre is led by Bluecoats (scientists and science communicators) who make interacting with the exhibits and live ambassador animals informative and fun. Buss service will be organized for pick-up and drop-off from the Raddison hotel to and from the science centre. The bus will depart from the Raddison hotel at 9:45am.
SNOLAB Facility Tour
Monday, September 29th
A tour of the SNOLAB underground facility is available to registrants who indicated interest in the registration process. Additional information will be provided to tour participants by email in the week prior to the conference.
Dynamic Earth Tour
Tuesday, September 30th, 10am to 12pm
Dynamic Earth is an interactive earth sciences museum that builds on the city's mining heritage. This visit will include an underground tour experience that will provide insight into the history and development of the local mining industry. This visit will also include a screening of the Jane Goodall documentary, Planting Hope, about environmental restoration. Buss service will be organized for pick-up and drop-off from the Raddison hotel to and from the science centre. The bus will depart from the Raddison hotel at 9:45am.
Guided Mural Tour
Thursday, October 2nd from 1:15pm to 2:00pm
Discover urban art in Sudbury with a guided mural tour lead by We Live Up Here Urban Arts. This guided walking tour of downtown Sudbury’s urban art gallery will provide details on various mural artists, artworks, and the public art scene in Sudbury. The tour will be 45min in length and participants will visit massive works and explore back alleys to see an array of murals by local and international artists.
