Travel Information

The City of Greater Sudbury is situated on the Canadian shield in the great lakes basin and is composed of a rich mix of urban and rural environments surrounded by boreal forest. Greater Sudbury is a city of lakes, containing 330 lakes with the downtown area, the science centre, and university nestled along the shores of Ramsey Lake.

Flying to Sudbury 

The Sudbury Airport (YSB) is located 20 km northeast of the city centre and is served by public transportation, taxi, and several car rental services. Please refer to the Sudbury Airport ground transportation page for more information. Air Canada offers daily flights to and from Toronto’s Pearson International Airport. Porter Airlines offers daily service to and from downtown’s Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.  

For travelling within Sudbury, we have public transportation system and U-Ride. 

Driving to Sudbury

Sudbury is located 344 km north of Toronto and 431 km west of Ottawa. Ontario Northland and Greyhound provides bus service to the city from Toronto and other destinations
