Presenter Guidelines

PRESENTER GUIDLEINES

Poster Presenters

The NNN Poster Event is held on the evening of October 1. All posters will be set up in the Place des Arts library space near the front check-in desk. Poster boards and materials for hanging your poster will be provided, most likely push-pins and/or clips.

You will be invited during the first day of the workshop to hang up your poster before the poster session, so it's all ready to go when the event starts. The event is 90 minutes long and you will have a variety of participants with various engineering, project management, and scientific backgrounds engaging with you on your subjects. Be prepared for a vibrant and wide-ranging series of conversations!

Poster size guidelines are as follows. The poster's maximum size should be A0 (1189 mm x 841 mm) in portrait orientation. Space limitations may not allow for A0 in landscape orientation.

Posters will be assessed in a few categories and the top-ranked posters in each category will be announced during the closing session of the conference.

Plenary Speakers

All plenary talks will be on the main stage at Place des Arts. Here is critical guidance to help you plan for delivering your talk.

  • The conference will deliver presentations from a single Windows laptop. You can expect the usual software to be installed (a PDF viewed like Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Powerpoint). Your presentation must be uploaded to Indico before your session, to allow the session chair to work with our technology support staff to make sure your slides are ready to share on screen. We recommend you practice uploading some slides to your agenda item to make sure you have access rights. The use of a single stage laptop will ensure prompt changing between presentations without the time needed to change video connectors, etc.
  • There will be a single podium on stage where you can keep notes for reference. However, you will not be able to see any notes embedded in your presentation as it's delivered from the primary laptop (e.g. you will not have access to "Presenter Mode"). Please make sure to bring any notes with you on stage in a format you prefer to use.
  • Each speaker is required to come to the right-hand stage door 5 minutes before the scheduled start of their talk. A technician will prepare you with a microphone so that you just need to walk on stage and begin your presentation. Other presentation hardware, such as a laser pointer and slide changer, will be provided.

Plenary Speaker Action Items

  1. Find your talk on the schedule and make sure you know when you have been placed. See the NNN Timetable.
    1. If there is a problem with the scheduling, contact Stephen Sekula (stephen.sekula@snolab.ca)
  2. Try uploading a file to your agenda item in the timetable. You will need an account on Indico@SNOLAB to do this, which you should have created when you submitted your abstract. If you do not have upload rights, contact Stephen Sekula (stephen.sekula@snolab.ca)
  3. Your talk must be uploaded to Indico before the start of your speaking session block. Your session chair will contact you to remind you of this on the day of your talk.
