Pre-workshop - SNOLAB (Monday & Tuesday)

This year's pre-workshop will focus on neutrinoless double beta decay.

SNOLAB is Canada’s deep underground research laboratory, located in Vale’s Creighton mine near Sudbury, Ontario Canada. At 2km, SNOLAB is the deepest cleanest lab in the world. It provides an ideal low background environment for the study of extremely rare physical interactions. SNOLAB’s science program focuses on astroparticle physics, specifically neutrino and dark matter studies, though its unique location is also well-suited to biology and geology experiments. SNOLAB facilitates world-class research, trains highly qualified personnel, and inspires the next generation of scientists. For further details please visit our website

Since SNOLAB is located on an active mine site, access is controlled and it is important for anyone accessing the property to be familar with the access rules and to following all instructions. Please review page 1 of our Visitor Guide if attending the pre-workshop at SNOLAB. More detailed direction on site access times will be provided closer to the workshop date.

There will also be some underground tours offered as part of the workshop, dates and times to be determined. More information on this will be provided as information becomes available. Going underground does require a considerable amount of walking on uneven ground through the mine drift and a full shower is required for lab entry. To learn more about this process, view our visit to SNOLAB video and review the entire Visitor Guide.
